Noncompliant Browser Detected

Policy Matters Ohio is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide research to the community. To make sure every member of the community can view our information, this web site conforms to the May, 1998 standards published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), the non-profit organization that (literally) invented the web. These standards ensure that our pages can be viewed by:

  • Users with disabilities.
  • Any internet device that meets W3C standards (even a PDA or cell phone).

Since the standards were implemented in 1998, the current release of every popular browser now supports them. Unfortunately, our auto-test function indicates that your browser is non-compliant. In most cases, this means the browser was released before 2000 (Microsoft Internet Explorer 3 or 4, or Netscape Navigator 3, for example), or the developer chose not to comply with the standards (Netscape Navigator 4 and 5).

If you would like to upgrade your browser, we have provided links to several companies (which we have listed alphabetically) that make standards-compliant browsers, each of which is available at no cost:

Note: These links are not a complete list of browsers that support W3C standards. Policy Matters Ohio does not recommend, endorse or require the use of any manufacturer's product in order to view these pages.

Of course, whether you choose to upgrade or not, you are still welcome to view this web site. But please be aware that:

  • The error message will display at the top of pages where a compatibility problem exists.
  • Your browser might not display those pages properly.
  • Some options on the page might not function correctly.

We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause.
