Ohio’s Earned Income Tax Credit could be a much more powerful tool for helping working families provide for their children. A report released today by Policy Matters Ohio shows that nearly 1 million working Ohioans claimed the Federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and brought about $2.3 billion to the state last tax year. The state credit delivered less than 3 percent as much benefit ($68.1 million) to a little over half as many families (574,516 tax filers) Only about 7 percent of Ohio’s poorest workers
