Policy Matters Ohio, a nonprofit, nonpartisan research center with offices in Cleveland and Columbus, today announced the hiring of a development manager and the departure of a long-time staffer who has served as communications director and education researcher.
Beginning April 28, Shae London will fill the new position of development manager. She brings more than 10 years development experience to the role, including eight years at Case Western Reserve University. Shae will work with Executive Director Amy Hanauer and other staff to raise funds for the organization.
“I’m thrilled to welcome Shae London and to bring her knowledge, energy and intelligence to our staff,” Hanauer said.
In June, Communications Director and Education Researcher Piet van Lier will be leaving Policy Matters to take a position as Director of School Quality, Policy and Communications with the Cleveland Transformation Alliance. Piet joined Policy Matters as education researcher in 2007, and became communications director in 2011. The think tank will be hiring a new communications director in the coming months.
“We’re sad to say goodbye to such a dedicated, smart and generous colleague, but we are happy to see Piet bring his excellent insights about education to this important new role in the Cleveland community,” Hanauer said.
Since its founding in 2000, Policy Matters has provided high-quality, relevant research on how to create a more vibrant, equitable, sustainable and inclusive Ohio. The organization, on the web at www.policymattersohio.org, maintains a staff of seven in Cleveland and three in Columbus.
