Unemployment in Ohio Grows Slightly in April to 5.8%; Bush, Kerry Camps try to Work Numbers to their Advantage

A report from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services showed Friday that the state's unemployment rate increased fractionally during April from the preceding month. Release of the data came as the Republican and Democratic presidential campaigns held separate events in the battleground state to use the jobs numbers to their advantage. And a non-profit research institute said that while Ohio's job market continues to show signs of modest growth, the rate is not great enough to make up recent losses any time soon.
