This presentation to the Ohio CASH coalition by Linda Cook of the Ohio Poverty Law Center describes the current state of consumer protection in Ohio and outlines two pieces of anti-consumer legislation pending before the General Assembly. House Bills 275 would allow suppliers to stop a lawsuit after filing by offering a "cure," and would limit damages for which companies can be held liable. HB 383 exempts residential construction from certain consumer protections.
