Policy Matters Ohio is pleased to welcome Victoria Jackson as a state policy fellow focused on education and fiscal policy.
Jackson holds a bachelor’s degree in Pan-African Studies from Kent State University and a master’s of public administration from The Ohio State University. After college, she served as an AmeriCorps volunteer with College Now Greater Cleveland, advising high school students at two Cleveland Metropolitan School District high schools on college access. While in graduate school, Jackson worked as a graduate assistant for the Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity, and for the Ohio Department of Education.
Born and raised in Ohio, Jackson is one of eight fellows selected nationally through a highly competitive process by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.
“I’m really happy to be the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities research fellow at Policy Matters Ohio,” Jackson said. “All of my experience has been part of a trajectory to get to policy work. I loved working with students, but policy was always in the back of my mind. The things I’ve done in my career so far informed my policy lens. Now I’m excited to contribute to research that I hope will improve fiscal and educational policy in Ohio.”
Amy Hanauer, executive director of Policy Matters, said she was impressed with Jackson’s mix of education and skills. “Victoria is a thoughtful, thorough analyst who brings a quiet intensity to her work. She understands that well-designed public policy can increase opportunity, improve equity, and advance a better Ohio. We can’t wait to see how she executes that vision.”
